Elk Cove
Mass Timber Tasting Room & Estate Expansion in the Willamette Valley
Elk Cove Vineyards, one of the founding wineries of the Willamette Valley, continues to evolve its estate to support both growing production and an expanding hospitality program. Originally established in 1974, the family-owned winery has steadily increased its footprint, requiring new spaces that better serve both visitors and staff while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding vineyard landscape.
The most recent addition introduces a new tasting and event space designed to enhance the guest experience while addressing long-term operational needs. Positioned to take advantage of sweeping vineyard views, the building includes a private tasting area for small and large groups alongside new office and meeting spaces for the growing team.
A defining feature of the project is its use of mass timber construction, including exposed cross-laminated timber (CLT) roof panels and glulam beams. This approach not only creates a warm, natural interior environment but also supports sustainability goals through reduced carbon impact and efficient construction. The structure has been described as a “timber jewel box,” combining high-performance materials with refined detailing and long-term durability.
The Grant Company contributed to the construction of this addition, helping deliver a space that balances architectural clarity, structural innovation, and the evolving needs of a leading Oregon winery.
